If there is one thing that I love about the spring season is seeing all the trends that you saw a glimpse of last September finally come into play, whether that is on the streets, in the shops or through make-up and beauty. One that particularly caught my eye was the new 'way to wear blusher' trend seen on the likes of Roberto Cavalli SS15, this modern approach was all about 'colour contouring' your face adding a luxurious glow to your skin. With that in mind (and with the help of Max Factor) I thought I'd share with you my approach to the look, which I have also paired with the 'high impact lip' trend as I have been loving' sporting a statement lip on the occasion.

The products I have used to 're-create' the look include:
Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Foundation in "Fresh Alabster" (link)
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in "Fair" (link)
Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in "Translucent" (link)
Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in "Nude Mauve" (link)*
Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in "Black" (link)
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterprood Kohl Eyeliner in "Black" (link)
Max Factor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions Mascara in "Black" (link)*
Avon Ultra Colour Absolute Lipstick in "Smooth Plum" (link)

I started off with my base consisting of foundation, concealer and powder. These products are what I call my 'holy-grail', as I have been using them for years and never quite see myself stray away from them as they have amazing lasting power and full-coverage. I apply the foundation with my stippling brush as I find the brush blends the product into my skin beautifully well,  in addition to building up the coverage of the product seamlessly. I also use this brush to blend in my concealer, which is then topped off with a cult favourite powder that keeps shine at bay from my skin.

For the eyes I opt for a 'signature' winged liner look (recap on how I achieve it here) using Rimmel London's Liquid eyeliner, with my waterline lined with their kohl eyeliner. Topped with the newly launched Max Factor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions Mascara in "Black" (link)*, which is genuinely an amazing mascara as it adds length and defines my lashes (clump-free) but stays flake and smudge free throughout the day. Plus it has incredibly staying power but isn't a pain to remove *score*. I can safely say it is fast becoming a 'staple' in my make-up look.

Now for the blush, I am using the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in "Nude Mauve" (link)*  another new launch from the brand, which again doesn't disappoint. This blush is key to creating the "Roberto Cavalli" look, as it is in fact the product they used for the show by make-up maestro Pat McGrath.

To achieve the 'colour-contouring' technique it is a key that apply the blush in circular motions to prominent features of your face, including sweeping the colour across your cheekbones, brow bones and along the neck creating a "halo-type" glow. As I typically opt for a bronze contour for my everyday make-up, I was intrigued about whether I would be persuaded to use a blush instead. So when I followed these steps I was amazed at the results, as the colour adds a natural glow and soft highlighting effect around my face. Despite being a powder blush, the formula is extremely soft and creamy especially as the colour adds a touch of warmth to my fair complexion, as well as not going 'patchy' throughout the day.

Finally I finish off the look with that statement lip in this gorgeous plum purple shade from Avon. I have to admit I hardly ever wear lipstick (pure lazy-ness) however when I do this has seemed to be the one which I go for. The formula adds a slight sheen to your lips, but offers maximum impact with it being highly pigmented. Lasting power wise a base lip stain/liner is essential, as like most lipsticks they can wear off throughout the day. For this look in particular the 'high impact lip' trend was all about adding a softness to the colour, by blotting around the edges adding to the 'worn-in' effect that has been seen frequently on the catwalk. So I took a piece of tissue and blotted it around the edges, to soften harsh lines of the look.
Let me know whether you'll be wearing any of these trends this season, or your favourite so far!
